Finding optimal health, one step at a time.

About The Foundation for Optimal Health

People living with Multiple Sclerosis don’t need more sympathy.

They need access — access to care that helps them feel human again.

The Foundation for Optimal Health exists to remove the financial and practical barriers that prevent people with MS from accessing supportive, wellness-focused care that improves quality of life.

TFOH is a Long Island–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting people with MS through accessible, community-based wellness experiences rooted in small steps, peer connection, and whole-person care.

Why We Exist

Founders Brooke Pulver and Tara Lawless met during a lifestyle clinical study exploring Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for people living with Multiple Sclerosis. Through shared experience, they saw how access to alternative therapies and supportive community could change daily life with MS — and how often that access was limited by cost, information, or system barriers.

The Foundation for Optimal Health was created to close that gap.

Our Focus

We are not focused on cures or promises.

We are focused on access, dignity, and support.

Everything we do is designed to help people with MS feel less alone, more capable, and more empowered in their wellness journey.

Wellness should be accessible, not optional.

Health should not be sacrificed, it should be optimal.

Tara Lawless, LMT | Co-Founder

Tara Lawless is a licensed massage therapist, holistic wellness practitioner, and co-founder of The Foundation for Optimal Health. She specializes in supporting individuals navigating chronic illness and oncology through an integrative, client-centered approach to healing.

With training in health and wellness coaching, massage therapy, Reiki, lymphatic drainage, cupping, red light therapy, and other supportive modalities, Tara brings a deep understanding of how mind, body, and spirit work together — especially in bodies facing long-term health challenges.

As a co-founder of The Foundation for Optimal Health, Tara combines professional expertise with lived compassion, helping create accessible wellness experiences that empower people with MS to feel more resilient, supported, and connected.

Her work — both professionally and personally — is rooted in balance, self-care, and natural wellness, values she lives daily as a mother, educator, and advocate for conscious, whole-person healing.

Brooke Pulver | Co-Founder

Brooke Pulver is a co-founder of The Foundation for Optimal Health and a long-time advocate for living fully with chronic illness. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Brooke brings lived experience, resilience, and a deep commitment to redefining what wellness can look like beyond a traditional medical model.

Through years of navigating MS while working full-time, maintaining an active lifestyle, and exploring alternative and supportive therapies, Brooke developed a practical, experience-based understanding of what truly helps people feel stronger, clearer, and more capable in daily life.

As co-founder of The Foundation for Optimal Health, Brooke helps shape programs that prioritize accessibility, community, and empowerment — ensuring people with MS are supported not just clinically, but as whole humans with full lives ahead of them.

Her work is driven by the belief that chronic illness does not eliminate the possibility of strength, purpose, or joy — and that access to supportive care should never be a privilege.
